The D/L on Atlantic City

So my first trip to Atlantic City was an entertaining one. We left on Saturday morning, promptly got lost from DC, and arrived after just under 5 hours of driving. We ended up staying at a Howard Johnson because it was $100 cheaper than any of the casinos, but we spent most of our time at the Tropicana which just finished renovations about a year ago. The place was nice, but others in the group said that Las Vegas was even nicer. During the day I also toured the Taj Mahal, Resorts, Borgata, and Showboat casinos. Out of all of them, Borgata was the nicest, but also the most expensive of the bunch. It also didn't have too many options in terms of choice of restaurants as compared to the Tropicana which had at least a dozen. Trump's Taj Mahal was, of course, the most tackiest with gold everywhere and over the top architecture. It was also the loudest with all of the slot machines' volumes pumped to the max. Tropicana had the largest poker room of them all, though most of them were renovating their respective poker rooms due to the explosion in popularity. The only problem I had with the Tropicana was that the personnel weren't as nice as I expected. I was scolded by a cashier and several dealers had issues with people playing at the tables, though their annoyance was never directed at me. Being a dealer must really be a tough job; you have to deal with people ignorant to the game and its rules, people who are drunk, and people who are obnoxious, but that's part of the job so I personally think there's no excuse for them to be rude. None-the-less, each night I sat down with $100 at the 2/4 limit game and came up positive both days. In total I made $164 for the two sessions. The first night I only played for about 4 hours, but the second was considerably longer. With no clocks or windows the first time I looked at my watch it was already 5am! Roughly a 7 hour session! Unfortunately, I couldn't find anyone to dog sit, so I had to board my dog. Only after I got back did I realize that it was $120 to board him for the long weekend in addition to the $200 or so for the incidentals of the trip.
